If everyone gets the same thing, no matter if they are a doctor or garbage collector, where does innovation, the strive to "make it big", and independent thought go? Socialism sounds good, in theory. It would have been interesting to see how Russia would have turned out if Lenin wouldn't have died so early into Russia's embrace of Socialism. I really think it might have turned out differently if the power-hungry Stalin, with his authoritarian take on Socialism, probably tainted the idea for the rest of us.
